My wife recently passed away in November of 2008. She was a resident of Extendicare, Port Washington and Cedarburg facilities. At Heritage, the condition of rooms was dirty, holes in walls, ants on floors, patients that went 30-50 minutes without response. Some of the nurses aids, nurses and especially the social workers and rehabilitation technicians were mentally and physically abusing. One aid even took money from my wife in the amount of $250 dollars promising to buy her personal supplies (money never recovered). After hip surgery my wife was sent back to Heritage Nursing Home and shortly thereafter was infected with the super bug, shingles and other variants. The administration then decided she was not a “suitable patient” for their facility. This I believe in part led to her rapid decline in health and eventual death. Extendicare has filed a lawsuit against me; stating that I owe them for services rendered. I believe the majority of these costs were covered under medicare, medicaid at the time (Cedarburg facility). There accounting staff did not pursue payment from these agencies aggressively and rather choose to pursue payment from spouse. I plan to file lawsuit against Extendicare and looking for assistance.
