PETA to Petsmart: don’t sell live animals

Given the controversy over Petland’s practices, I wonder if the entire pet-for-sale market will come under increased scrutiny.

PETA owns Petsmart stock and plans to submit a shareholder resolution at the upcoming shareholder’s meeting banning the sale of live animals.   This measure has failed a couple times in previous attempts by PETA but I wonder if the increased publicity about these practices will result in a different outcome.  The comments to this article are worth reading because they focus on ways to improve the treatment of the animals rather than banning the sale outright.
