There have been more than hundred complaints filed with Florida’s Dept. of Health, the U.S. Product Safety Commissions is investigating and several class action lawsuits have been filed because of gypsum found in drywall found in many Florida homes and probably elsewhere that creates sulfur gas releasing an odor like rotten eggs and corroding metal.
Several Chinese companies have been targeted as the culprits for producing this defective drywall. This article in the South Florida Business Journal does a good job outlining the players and issues involved.
