Federal District Judge Manuel Real who presides in the Southern California federal court, has been accused by lawyers for Filipinos asking for the return of more than $35 million in funds from the Marcos government, of providing an incomplete accounting for the money under his control. It seems judge Real provided only a single page of unspecified receipts and payments. It also acknowledges unnamed disbursements of more than $4.9 million.
The judge has been in hot water many times before. My question is shouldn’t a judge hire an independent accounting firm that would provide this kind of reporting?
