Should CIOs be shutting down Facebook etc?

There is an assumption that employees checking Facebook at work are risking security breaches while they check out their friends vacation pics.   However, the more Facebook and other social networking sites go mainstream, the more likely workers will use these site to communicate with vendors, colleagues and other professionals.

This article suggests that Chief Information Officers aren’t always in the best position to know how workers are utilizing social networking.
