Tech companies approach to social media policies

Good article on various tech companies (Safeway too!) in Silicon Valley and how they approach social networking.  The most interest statement came from Cadence Design Systems’ Chief Marketing Officer John Bruggeman who supposedly said that websites are useless except for archiving and press releases.  He believes they are too dated to be of value.

Maybe but they also give a window on how an organization views itself, products, services, people and messaging.  Relying only on a social networking view of the world may help you stay in “real time” but that’s as narrow a view of the world as those relying solely on print publications.
