A Georgia teacher revealed that she participated in “Bitch Bingo” where players try to spell bitch rather than bingo. She had also posted photos showing her drinking alcohol during a European vacation.
Really?? She has subsequently sued the school district for wrongful termination.
But neither side is particular blameless. Why didn’t the teacher consider applying appropriate privacy settings that would prevent people who she hadn’t friended from seeing her photos and activities? I would make the argument if I were the school district that teachers have a professional duty to take reasonable measures to keep their private activities private.
On the other side, the school district completely over-reacted and is in desperate need for a clear and thoughtful social networking policy.
