Here is a post about how social networking has encouraged bad behavior because on a computer nobody know who you are. First, the larger point of social networking is to extend yourself onto the Internet and make new connections you would never otherwise make. But putting aside, the article goes on to bemoan how social networking is creating a nightmare environment for employers, so that “lawyers are working over time developing interpretations of privacy laws.”
Granted their are plenty of examples of abusive use of social networking but if employers are smart, they train their employees on ways to promote themselves professionally through social networking that helps them (for promotion or a job with a new company) and their employers.
