Private social networking for legal recruiting

March 9, 2010

Here is the press release for a new “private” social networking platform aimed at helping law firms recruit new attorneys, stay connected with existing associates and alumns.

One question: what does such a platform provide that LinkedIn doesn’t?  They claim privacy since its not available to everyone.  But its possible to create private groups on Linkedin that could include just alumns.  I recently saw a demo of Martindale’s “Connected” and had the same question.  And there is an inherent contradiction in the notion of “private” social networking.  Perhaps you gain a greater degree of privacy but you lose the energy that visbility provides.
