Digitial TV Switch: bailout for cable companies?

With Charter Communications filing for bankruptcy, perhaps digital conversion is a giant gift to the cable television industry.  If you subscribe to cable, then this isn’t an issue.  If you don’t, you need a converter box for which there are instructions as to how to install it but not many of the important detail surrounding the use of it.

You need the right antenna, you need to make sure it works with your DVD player and you have to make sure you’ve selected the channels that will be available after the switch-over.  As the article below suggest and I can affirm, this switch-over hits the elderly hardest.  They don’t like change, they are technologically impaired and are people for whom TV is often an important companion.

The article also suggests that the beneficiary of these difficulties are likely to be cable companies.
