According to the Law360 Litigation Almanac litigation report, federal litigation despite the economy was up 9% over last year. Caveat: federal litigation is only a portion of over-all U.S. litigation. State litigation makes up a much greater segment and as a sign of legal market’s over-all health, these numbers aren’t terribly helpful. That said, here are some interesting trends.
Antitrust: up 27%
Securities: down 8%
Products liability: up 20%
Class actions: up 8%
Employment: up 6%
Intellectual Property: 11%
